Exercise clothes make me exercise!
Woman in the Middle | May 6, 2015I had a wonderful coupon from J.C. Penney’s. It was $10 off a purchase of $10 of more. These coupons always get me excited and, if I have time, I usually try to use them.
I decided to use the coupon to get some new exercise pants. Oh, if only it had been that simple! Lets just say that will be 2 hours I will never get back!
The store had several racks of exercise clothes for women of a certain size, so that was good. The main issue is that all of the pants had color on them. None went with my two exercise tops. Oh well, I decided I would have to get a whole new exercise outfit! I gathered up tops and bottoms and walked the fair distance to get to a fitting room.
My current exercise pants are fairly tight-fitting , which I like, because it helps minimize the jiggling. Unfortunately, there seems to have been a revolution in the design of exercise pants since I last bought some. They were all loose-fitting. Hum….They were comfortable….so I decided to try the tops on with them. That is when things went decidedly south.
The tops were so thin and clingy that you could see the outline of pattern of the lace on my bra! And that wasn’t the worst of it. Around my waist you could see everything about the waistband of the pants, the string tie around the waist AND you could see all my jiggle. I wasn’t going to do that to my fellow exercise classmates.
Back I went to get different styles, sizes, and tops. I tried all of those on. The smaller pants weren’t as comfortable. The new tops still showed off the outlines of everything. Sigh.
Back I went for a third time. I finally found some bottoms that were designed to be tight. Again, lots of color so new tops had to be picked out. I figured out that the dark color tops didn’t show the outline of everything like the lighter colors did. The tighter bottoms did hold in the jiggle better, but the bottoms of the legs, which were at my calves, were way too tight. Unpleasantly so. So tight I had to reach down and ease them up just to get the pants to go on properly.
After three trips to the fitting room I did get lots of steps in. I think I also burned quite a few calories taking clothes on and off so many times. But, unfortunately, after all that effort, I didn’t buy new exercise clothes. I used my coupon for a new pair of slippers.
