Who would buy that???
Woman in the Middle | May 4, 2012A couple of weeks ago I went to see Youngest Daughter and have lunch with her at her college about 40 miles away. What can I say, if the kid can’t come home, go to the kid! I am lucky that she is at a school close enough that I can see her occasionally, even if she is unable to come home.
One of my favorite things to do when I go to visit her, besides having lunch with my baby, of course, is to go to a store near her campus called Home Goods. Home Goods is a chain owned by the same company that operates T.J. Maxx and Marshalls. Basically, you take the linens, decorative items, kitchen items, and furniture that you usually see at T.J. Maxx and Marshalls and expand it to fill an entire store. It is a fun place to poke around in and since we do not have one anywhere near our house, I enjoy getting to go to Home goods when I am out that way.
Every time Youngest Daughter and I go to Home Goods, as much as I like it, we see that one thing that makes us say “Who would buy that????” Of course, that weird thing is usually gone the next time we shop there, which shows that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure!!! I took a photo of our latest “Good Lord, did you see that?!?” find to share with you, my dear readers. Are you ready? Here it is!
So, what I am seeing here, folks, is a statue of a man (maybe French?) from the 1700s with the head of a St. Bernard. My daughter was especially intrigued (not in a good way) with the fact that it had the dog head but human hands. I am deeply interested in knowing about the person who dreamed up this statue. Was this some joke, kind of a “Lets make this weird statue and see if those crazy Americans will really buy it!”
I am curious, what do you think of this “interesting” item?
