It Broke
Woman in the Middle | September 5, 2017That terrible weather system – high pressure over Botswana or low pressure over Argentina or whatever it was- finally broke. We didn’t believe it and for Labor Day we planned all indoor activities. However, when we went outside about 2:15 in the afternoon and felt a gentle warmth instead of blistering heat we were all so excited! The girls actually twirled around on the front lawn, it felt so good! We even opened our windows last evening!! Here is hoping we don’t get anything like that horrible heat again this summer. It was a brutal nine days!
Our indoor activity yesterday was a walk around our local mega outlet mall. When we arrived the parking lot was full, and I mean to the brim! We were all concerned about what we would find when we got inside. However, it was surprisingly not bad. We were there just for fun and not in any hurry, and so we were able to mosey around without any problem, The place was packed with Asian tourists. Since yesterday was a holiday, I think quite a few tour companies decided to bring them to the mall to shop for the day. They were lined up to get inside a couple of the high end stores like Coach and Tori Burch. Yep, people had to wait in line to get into a store! I didn’t have that problem. Oddly enough, no one was waiting in line to get in the Corning/Corelle outlet store! LOL!
There was a new store in the mall called The Company Store that the girls just had to visit. It is all high end make up like Clinique, Estee Lauder, and Origins. But, what excited me (besides the store wide 30% off on everything!) was what I saw them carrying. As you ladies may know, Clinique and Estee Lauder offer a free gift with purchase a couple of times a year. It is usually a cute little makeup bag with several sample sizes of various products, including a lipstick. They had those!!! I had to buy one, of course! With the sale, I found one for less than $12! A fun purchase.
Meanwhile, Eldest Daughter was showing off her misspent youth. That is what we call any knowledge acquired during an obsession Hubby or I had in our younger years. “How did you know that?” “Oh, misspent youth.” Well, Eldest has an obsession with makeup. While we were in the store, she seemed to be able to identity everything. At one point I picked up a set of goodies from Origin, and she said, “That was from their Christmas line last year.” Oh, really…..
We had dinner at Rainforest Cafe. Since Youngest is moving out in just a few days (tear runs down cheek) I wanted to do something fun. Since the mega mall has one of only three Rainforest Cafes in all of California, I decided anamatronic elephants was what we needed at our dinner establishment. The other two Rainforest Cafes are located in San Francisco and Downtown Disney at Disneyland. I told the girls to just pretend we were at Downtown Disney! LOL!
In case you have never been, Rainforest Cafe restaurants are chock full of life-size animals such as elephants and gorillas and monkeys. Every once in a while one set or another will go off and start moving and making appropriate noises. Kind of like the Jungle Cruise at Disneyland. It is fun and we hadn’t been there in years, so what the heck!
Hope you had a great Labor Day weekend!
I have never experienced anything like this
I have been to the one in Ontario Mills.
