Half Way There
Woman in the Middle | September 3, 2017Youngest Daughter has paid her first month’s rest. Whoo Hoo for her! We took a load today to her new place. I am happy to report many of her things and all the larger pieces of furniture are now at the new place. It was a hot one even though the temperature is actually below 100 today. But it was muggy and we were sweating hauling bookshelves and such out of out house and into the new house. Whew!
The big hold up at this point is waiting for the new mattress to be delivered. Youngest bought herself a new full size bed. Once that is delivered on Wednesday, she plans on making the move complete. Her new roommate has three dogs. They are small, medium and large, otherwise known as Titan, Abby, and Moose. Moose and Abby were in the back room out of our way, but Titan was there, making sure he was right in the middle of things, as any good dog should be. It felt just like normal, trying not to step on a dog. LOL!
The new bedroom felt so big when hardly anything was in it. Now, stuffed full of furniture and boxes it doesn’t feel quite so large. Isn’t that the way of things? My kitchen seemed large, too, until we moved in. Then I realized it is the smallest large kitchen ever! Counter space, I need more counter space!
Anyway, this is an exciting time in Youngest’s life and a time of change for all of us. I will miss the everyday interaction, but I am excited for her none the less. Life is like a river, always changing course. Ours is going around a big bend right now. I can’t quite see what is coming, but am looking forward to whatever it may be.

This reminded me of when my eldest daughter moved into her first flat, I spent the day laying carpet in the lounge/kitchen area and setting the flat up for her while she was at work.
My husband keeps saying, “I don’t remember anyone helping us move, do you?” And he is right. Out parents just waved goodbye and we moved ourselves.
I have all portable furniture that ALL fit into my car because I don’t get any help either. A couple of times I have but nothing that could be considered reliable for any future moves. Better to be prepared for no help.
