A 31 Year Tune Up
Woman in the Middle | May 2, 2017My wedding and engagement ring set is finally back from the jewelers after a major tune up, just in time for our 31st wedding anniversary. This ring has seen a lot. It has been a companion through think and thin. It was there when we got that load of sod at the other house and hubby and I spent the entire day cutting it up and laying it out in our back yard. It was there the very first time I picked up tiny newborn Blackie 18 years ago, to move him, his brothers and his mother from the front planter where he was born to the safety of a new home in our garage. It was there, on my left hand, when I told Mom she could go, Brother Dear and I would be fine (and we were, eventually).
It was there as two little girls grew to be beautiful young women. It has been to Great Britain, Australia, Russia, Alaska, and Hawaii. It never cringed (that I know of) though countless diaper changes, sinks full of dirty dishes, and, most recently, kitten poop.
But, most of all, it has been there with me every day, a symbol of my greatest achievement – a solid, stable marriage to the man I love.
Welcome back old friend. The mark on my finger you made through all these years never went away, in the four months you have been gone. Glad to see you settled back into the spot where you are supposed to be.
Beautiful tribute to a great life.
Thank you!
A wonderful post to celebrate your marriage and all the memories you have created.1800
