Easier Than Expected
Woman in the Middle | November 4, 2016Sometimes things that should be easy are complected and some things you think are going to be hard end up being way easier than expected. Thank goodness the second one happened to me recently.
Last week we got a brand new department store credit card in the mail for Brother Dear. Apparently I didn’t close out that particular account. Hubby handed it off to me and asked me to cancel it. I ignored it for a week, anticipating the hassle that was going to ensue. I expected to be asked for a notarized letter and a copy of Brother Dear’s death certificate. Believe me, it has happened before! I was not looking forward to dealing with this.
I called the number on the back of the new card. Of course, I got an electronic voice asking me all sorts of things and giving me the account balance of zero and the date of the last payment in July 2013. Then the kind computer voice asked me if I wanted anything else. I said “Cancel the card.” ”Are you sure? If you cancel the card it can not be reactivated… blah blah blah…if you still want to cancel the card say Yes.” I said “yes.” After a brief pause, the voice said “done.” After giving me the cancellation code, it was all over.
Wow. Just wow. That was so easy! I couldn’t believe it. I still can’t! It is so nice when things work out so much better than expected!
I am suspicious! Nothing is that easy especially ending an account where the store makes money.
I know! But I had them send a confirmation, which I have in my hot little hands.
Glad it was an easy process as it would be horrible if it was difficult as it generally is anything but difficult.
Good! I’m glad it was done so quickly!
