What I am Looking Forward To
Woman in the Middle | September 4, 2016Because we have family there, I have been to Hawaii, specifically Honolulu, more than any other vacation spot in the 30 years Hubby and I have been married. We first went on our honeymoon, and this will be our third time back to the land of Aloha. Because we have been a few times, I have things I am looking forward to doing and/or seeing on this vacation that we have enjoyed before. It isn’t all about new things, sometimes it is about enjoying wonderful things again.
Here are some of the things we look forward to enjoying again.
1. Cocoa Puffs. The Liliha Bakery in Honolulu makes something out of this world they call “cocoa puffs.” It is a chocolate filled puff pastry with chocolate on top. They sell, according to their website, between 4,800 and 7,200 EVERYDAY. These things are the bomb. We can’t wait to enjoy them again!
2. Shave Ice – No, not “Shaved Ice.” Since the ice is shaved, it is finer or snowier than a snow cone. Because it is Hawaii, there are some exotic flavors available such as guava, mango, lychee, and kiwi. It can be served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream at the bottom of the paper cone and it can be drizzled with sweetened condensed milk on the top. Yum! The Uncles have promised to take us to the best shave ice place.
3. Dole Whip – Sure, we can get Dole Whip at Disneyland, but, since we are in Hawaii, why not get it at the Dole Plantation itself? It is all about delicious pineapple in Dole Whip, which is a frozen nondairy concoction that is like soft serve ice cream.
4. Walking on beaches with warm water lapping at our toes – In case you are thinking I am only looking forward to the food, I wanted you to know I am looking forward to the beaches as well. The ocean off of So Cal is very cold. So walking in warm tropical water is a nice change of pace. Put that water in a beautiful tropical location, even better!
I hope the hurricanes don’t ruin it for you!
So lucky! I’d love relatives in Hawaii!
I had to marry to get those! LOL!
I have only been to Hawaii once, Tim liked it but said it was just like Sufers Paradise or the Gold Coast and doesn’t see the point in going back again and in a way he is right so I am ok at least I have been once.
