Random Musings August 15th, 2016
Woman in the Middle | August 15, 2016Youngest Daughter spent most of the weekend visiting her friend who works at the cupcake shop. That means she came home with cupcakes. That was both a “yay” and a “nay.” How could we not be happy with a box bursting with a dozen gourmet cupcakes? But do four people really need a dozen cupcakes? As much as I would like to say the answer is “yes,” it is not. We decided we would each have one and the others would go off to my daughter’s work. Much discussion ensued as to which cupcake we would each have. Hubby got the peanut butter chocolate one, as always. For the rest of us, finally a chocolate, a mint, and a mocha cupcake were carefully extracted from the box. Then the lid was closed and we all wished the rest of the cupcakes well on their journey to someone else’s hips.
It has warmed up again in these here parts. I didn’t step outside yesterday until 7:30 last night, and immediately wished I could turn around and go back inside my cool, climate controlled house. Alas, I had promised the family a trip to the grocery store, so I was forced to press on. When I got home, we all took a walk (because of the cupcakes) and it was a sweaty experience, even after 8 pm. Fun times!
We had a big old fly buzzing around in the house while we were trying to watch the Olympics and eat our cupcakes last night. Usually during our TV watching time we get some attention from Nox and Lumos. Nox will jump up and visit our laps for a while. Lumos likes to get us to play with him or he lays on the back of the couch and purrs in our ear. But not if a fly is in the room. They were chasing that fly all night! Eldest Daughter finally complained that she was missing her kitty time due to that annoying fly.
A firm knock on my door this morning at about 8 am jolted the house out of its morning quit. I opened the door to a man who announced he was here to do my tile back splash. I explained he had the wrong house. He mentioned my address, but I explained once again he had the wrong house and pointed him to the house next door, where they are having their kitchen redone. He thanked me and went to check next door. I look forward to seeing their new back splash!
Gourmet cupcakes? I would have taken 2 for each member of the family!
Wow…do those cupcakes sound good! No wonder that fly wouldn’t leave.
I would love some of those cupcakes but like you a dozen would be too many they wouldn’t get eaten the most I would eat is two just saying
Good for you for having the will power to only take one cupcake each. Sorry you had to be woken up so early in the morning by a wrong house call.
