The Family that Votes Together…
Woman in the Middle | June 9, 2016I would never miss an election. Maybe I am a little weird, but I like to go vote with Hubby, if at all possible. What is even more fun is when the girls can vote with us. Democracy = family time in our house.
When the girls were little we took them to vote with us. When we were done I made sure they got the little “I voted” sticker. I wanted them to see and experience and understand what voting was all about.
I guess it worked. Monday night Youngest Daughter asked for her sample ballot and started asking questions about who we were planning on voting for. On Tuesday Eldest Daughter and I were coming home from an appointment and she said, “When are we going to go vote?”
Youngest Daughter carpooled with Hubby on Tuesday because she was attending a training just a mile from his work. At about ten minutes before five I got a call. “We are in Dad’s car and should be home in about an hour and can go vote.” When they got home all four of us piled into the car, drove to the polling place, and exercised our rights as American citizens to vote.
The family that votes together has an excuse to eat chocolate cake together, at least at our house!
Heartwarming to know there are still families like yours in the world. I bet there are many more, but they don’t make the six o’clock news or reality TV.
We would be very boring Reality TV people.
Good for all of you to vote! I voted by mail
