My Cat is a Ventriloquist
Woman in the Middle | April 27, 2016Blackie, at the ripe old age of 17, has developed a new skill – ventriloquism. Yes, he can throw his meow. As a matter of fact, he throws it everywhere!
When we started letting the kittens roam the house, we closed off the cat door to the garage. It was no bid deal. Blackie is a smart cat. He would just go stand by the door and meow once or twice when he needed someone to let him out. He would even meow and wait patiently for us to arrive, he understood the situation so quickly.
However, in the last couple of months, he has gotten a bit more vocal, for whatever reason. He meows even if he doesn’t need to go out to the litter box. He meows in the dining room, the living room, the bedroom, but no matter where he meows, it sound just like it is coming from the door to the garage. Sometimes it sounds like he is wanting out, sometimes it is more muted and sounds like he is in the garage and wants back in. Whatever the case. we run to that door several times a day, expecting to see Backie wanting out to the litter box. Instead, nothing. No cat anywhere to be seen.
I would think I was losing my mind or my hearing or both if it was just me. But Hubby has the same problem. Even the girls, with their bright young minds and hearing can’t tell where he is meowing from. We have all had to acknowledge that Blackie is continuing his reputation as an International Cat of Mystery by taking up ventriloquism.
When he isn’t soaking in the sun, Blackie likes to keep us on our toes!
I hsve a hunch Blackie is chuckling as he tricks everyone with his ventriloquist act.
Now this is adorable and funny
He’s probably trying to trick the kittens too so they can’t find him either.
