If Ivanka can do it, why can’t I?
Woman in the Middle | April 25, 2016This past week was just as crazy as the week before. My mindfulness helped make sure I knew what day it was, which was an improvement, but the busyness factor was still at a 9 or 10. I do this to myself to some extent, as I over commit myself. But it isn’t just that. It is also all the things I need to do around the house like buy groceries, clean, sort through boxes, manage cat boxes, medicate pets etc….
Then, in a moment of rest, I clicked on the People magazine website (one of my secret online addictions) and saw a lovely photo of Ivanka Trump with her new baby and two other small children, as well as her husband. It was taken on the day of her new baby son’s bris. I wondered how she does it? Run businesses while supporting a father running for president, having babies, and planning the party for the bris. It just depressed me even more.
Then it dawned on me. Ivanka is doing it all with what I am sure is a cadre of employees doing all the day-to-day stuff for her. I doubt Ivanka is sweeping up cat litter (if she has a cat) or buying groceries or doing laundry. I am sure she didn’t prepare the food for the bris. If she does have boxes and boxes of stuff, who cares, she can afford to pay for their storage.
I felt better after having that little conversation with myself. If I had a cook and a housekeeper, could afford to cater all my parties, life would be a heck of a lot less complicated.
Props to Ivanka for all she does. Meanwhile, I am going to go check out reviews for Roombas. There must be some way I can get a little help around here!
The key to managing things is to do things one at a time and to take each day as you find it, and not to sweat the little things
Very wise advice!
I’m glad you have a secret addiction (healthy) that you can turn to when you get stressed.
