My Garage Is Disneyland, at Least to Kitty Cats
Woman in the Middle | April 17, 2016Because of our coyote population we prefer to have our cats lead an indoor life. We do see cats come through our yard who have been around for several years and have not been eaten by coyotes. However, we don’t want to take that risk. So far, the kittens have shown only very minor interest in doors that lead to the outside world. However, they live and breathe (especially Lumos) for an opportunity to get into the garage. The garage, or, as I think of it, the area that could get us a shot at a hoarders show, is apparently Disneyland for 11 month old cats. Actually, it is apparently DISNEYLAND in all capital letters. Occasionally they manage to bolt out there when the door is open and we don’t hear from them for an hour or more. If only they wanted to sort through boxes while they are out there!
There are reasons we don’t want the kittens in the garage. For one, due to Blackie’s various health problems, monitoring his litter box is one of the few ways we have of getting some insight into what is going on inside of him. If someone else share’s his box, we lose that insight.
Another reason is our concern that they will knock something down on top of themselves.
Keeping the kittens out of the garage recently got harder. The law requires that the door between the house and garage be self shutting, for fire safety purposes. Ours does swing shut, but if we catch it so it doesn’t bang shut, it may not latch. Nox has figured out if he jumps up on his hind legs and pushed his weight against the door, he can push it open wide enough to be able to get into the garage. So now I have to deal with both Lumos bolting through the open door and Nox actually opening he door himself. I am losing the battle against very smart kittens!
Quite amusing to read about, probably less amusing to live it
Ok I found this quiet funny, but it may not had seem so funny to you and I get that
So, Nox opens the door while Lumos runs through it. Hmmm, partners in crime.
You figured out their evil and nefarious plan!
