I Love Losing My Mind
Woman in the Middle | April 13, 2016I happily sat down and started writing a blog post about my upcoming trip with Hubby on Amtrak. After about a paragraph or so, I decided it was starting to sound familiar. I looked back at my old posts and found that I had already written about that trip, an embarrassingly short time ago.
I so love losing my mind.
Brains are interesting things. Mine has this nasty habit of filing away anything it believes I don’t need to think about anymore, and it does not ask my permission before it does that. One thing my brain thinks it should file away are blog posts. I hit that publish button and simultaneously the contents of that post are being filed far away in a hard to reach drawer.
Combine that nasty habit with age and I am lucky I remember my own name. The only thing that saves me is dealing with other folks around my age whose memories don’t seem to be a whole lot better than mine. That and lists. Thank goodness for lists! I have a whole list of things that need to be dealt with today. Not a single thing on that list is fun. Maybe I should sprinkle my boring lists with things like “Go to Starbucks” or “Buy new earrings.” Now, that would be a fun list!
You are not alone my friend…. and I think you are in good company too.
I’ve done a spectacular post only to find out that I’ve done it before almost the same way. *whacks head on desk* Sometimes when I get that “sounds familiar” feeling I need to check it out right away!
Glad I am not the only one!!!
Been there and done that too many times, it is annoying and frustrating when you think you have a good topic to write about only to realise you have indeed written about it
They say that adding fun to your day helps relieve stress, so go ahead and add Starbucks and new earrings to the mix.
