The Big Day Arrives
Woman in the Middle | April 30, 2016The big day has finally arrived. The wedding of one Youngest Daughter’s best friends, the one she has known since they were 12 years old. They are now 24, so they have known each other for half of their lives! Finger nails and toe nails are painted, hair styles picked out, makeup discussed. The bride’s bouquet and the two bride’s maid bouquets are at my house. I feel such responsibility! The two bridesmaids are getting ready at my house. The other bride’s maid arrived at 7 a.m.(!) and I said I would make them breakfast, to get them through the noon wedding.
Eldest made the throwing bouquet out of the pretty paper flowers that she makes. We made sure all the wire was covered so it didn’t turn into a weapon!. No presents to wrap at this time. We told the bride we would buy her dishes when they get their own place in a few months. No place to store them right now and, besides, she really didn’t have the brain power to pick out what she wanted before the wedding.
Last night the two bridesmaids went to help decorate the reception tables. Youngest finished her speech that she will make at the reception as the maid of honor. The other bridesmaid and her mother translated it into Spanish, so everyone at the reception will get to hear and understand it. This is a two language event!
Of course, Youngest caught the dreaded cold from her big sister. I was pumping her full of medication for her nasty sore throat this morning. I am happy to report she was feeling better by the time she left the house to rendezvous with the bride.
I can’t wait to see the bride. I can’t wait for the ceremony. I can’t wait for the reception. I love the whole start of a new life thing. I will, of course, post photos of the wedding in a future post. Meanwhile, here are the two lovely bridesmaids.
In case you are wondering about the sweaters, it has turned unseasonably cold here in So Cal. Usually, you would have to worry that it would be ridiculously hot at the end of April. Instead, it is cold and rainy. Who would have thought? I will get a photo of them without the sweaters later today.
