It’s Raining, It’s Pouring!
Woman in the Middle | March 7, 2016After having a February that was more like summer than winter, or even spring, we finally got our winter back this past weekend. It rained Saturday morning, was cool on Sunday, and is raining again today.
As I heard the rain pound on my roof, the light bulb went off over my head and I threw on some clothes and made a mad dash to move my car. My car sits in the driveway, not the garage, unfortunately. Our driveway sits slightly below the street. It has this one spot, which is right by the driver’s side door, where water collects in a rain. It drains off pretty quickly, but for a while I have to ford a puddle that gets 4-5 inches deep to get in my car. Since I have to go out later to a meeting, I decided to run out in the rain and back my car up while the puddle was a little shallower.
Youngest Daughter went to an engagement party yesterday. It was quite the fancy affair, food wise anyway. We had her tell us all about it. There was salmon in little zucchini boats. There were two types of pin wheels. There were delicious mini cupcakes. And….a whole fish! I screamed in horror when she said that.
She said there was the fish, complete with head and tail, and people were supposed to fork out bits of its middle to put on crackers. Oh the horror of it all!
I don’t know if I told you this before, but I do not like fish. I was raised in a family where food from the sea just wasn’t eaten. My dad didn’t like it so we didn’t have it. Besides, it wasn’t like we lived near an ocean or lake and could get fresh seafood, which is always the best. So seeing a whole cooked fish laid out for my pleasure would not be a thrill. Youngest said she gave those staring fish eyes a wide berth!
Hope you have a great Monday!
Yeah our car used to be parked on the front lawn, except when it rains as the ground gets so wet, now of course Tasha parks on the lawn so she will be the one to deal with the wet ground instead of me .
I will have as good a Monday as the soaking rain will allow me to have. I can’t believe I actually prayed for this mess! I hope our drought-affected area thanks me. :-$
I know, I want the rain, I just don’t want to have to deal with the rain.
