The Weekend is Coming!
Woman in the Middle | March 4, 2016The weekend is coming, oh boy! Since I work from home, my weekends and my weekdays are a lot alike. The difference is I sometimes have more family members around on the weekend. Right now, though, Hubby is still working every day. Just because they got that leaking natural gas well plugged at Porter Ranch doesn’t mean they aren’t still testing the air. And Youngest and Eldest like to go out and do things on the weekends, not always, but frequently.
Youngest Daughter is going to be in a wedding at the end of April. She and the other bridesmaid are throwing a shower a week from Saturday at my house. I will be gone most of next week at a conference related to my position as a park district director. Sooo this weekend will be spent getting things done that I won’t be getting don’t next week. I won’t be cleaning so much but I will be straightening up to make sure all is ready for cleaning when I return from the conference on Friday.
I have been working on the garage this week, and more of that will be happening this weekend. I shuffled things around and made room for a set of shelves where I am storing things like cleaning supplies and cat supplies. The shuffling caused me to open a few boxes. Goodness, as much as I have gone through the boxes in the garage, I can’t believe how many things I still run across that I can’t for the life of me remember why I saved.
Why, you may ask, am I cleaning the garage? Other than the obvious reason (which is that it looks like a hoarder’s paradise out there and I really really don’t want it to) is the fact that there is still quite a bit of stuff at Mom in law’s house that one of the four of us wanted to keep and we haven’t brought to our house yet. I put on my big girl panties, stopped waiting for Hubby to have free time, and started tackling the project myself. I see the irony in tossing stuff from the garage, only to refill it will other stuff. But that is what happens when family members pass away. You get stuff you can’t bear to part with and then, slowing but surely, you begin to get rid of it as you can.
I went shopping today. Eldest went with me and we ended up at Target, even though I had no intention of going there when we started out. I don’t shop much at Target anymore. I am in there only about twice a year anymore. But, today, as Eldest put it, I got “Targeted.” A little Easter candy, some pet food, a couple of presents for upcoming birthdays, and, I admit it, a bunny banner for Easter, and I racked up an $81 bill! How exactly that happened, I am not sure. I think it is just as well I don’t go to Target too often.
I hope you have a lovely weekend. We are supposed to get rain on Sunday and the temperature is supposed to cool off considerably. Here is hoping!
It is now close to the middle of Sunday as I read this, just so you know, I have had all the girls here, well Natasha lives here so she is here all the time when she isn’t working, but now Kathy and Jessica and Leo have all gone home and Tim has stopped having a tantrum because he couldn’t get the training wheels on Leo’s new bike.
I just spent $55 on two refill air purifier filters and ant bait at Wal-Mart, so maybe I should stay away from Wal-Mart.
