The Wet Stuff
Woman in the Middle | January 7, 2016Some of you may have heard the astonishing news – it has been raining here in California. Not just a smattering or a drizzle, but good solid rain going on for hours and days. It started Tuesday night and, except for brief interludes, rained pretty continuously until early this morning. Take that, you nasty old drought!
I haven’t looked at the newspaper yet or turned on the news, so I can’t speak for all of California. But, for us, so far there haven’t been many rain related issues. Because it was a steady rain, the hillside near us has pretty much stayed on the hillside. We have a small bank in our front yard that likes to wash down and we added a few sandbags there that appear to have done their job, for the most part.
The only problem that we are having is that the electrical circuit that covers the two bathrooms seems to be off but the breaker didn’t flip. There is no electricity on that line. I think is has to do with all the dampness we have been having, but it could be just a coincidence. So, flashlights are required to use the front bathroom, but worse things have happened in my life. I think we can live until an electrician can be found.
This morning, after our night of rain, the clouds went away and the sun cam out. Bright yellow light is pouring through our back windows right now. Good old sun. He and I have a love/hate relationship. I hate all the sunscreen I have to use. But, right now, I am loving the sun and the break from the storms.
UPDATE: It turns out the problem was one of those outlets in a bathroom with the buttons on it. A kind electrician walked me through it over the phone and it solved the problem. This particular outlet is never ever used by us so neither Hubby nor I thought about it until the electrician asked if we had one. I will definitely be using that fellow the next time we need something done around the house electricity wise.
I got an emergency text yesterday regarding flash floods until 4:30 pm. It’s not raining now, but it’s cloudy and looks like it might start again at any moment.
