Shiny and Bright
Woman in the Middle | December 11, 2015I love Christmas decorations. I especially like decorations that are shiny and bright. The only thing that keeps me from making my house look like Christmas threw up all over the inside is knowing I will have to put it away afterwards. That does temper my enthusiasm just a bit. This year I have added something new to my decor. It is shiny and bright all right. It is aluminum foil. I took a photo. Looks so festive, right?
I read somewhere on the internet that aluminum foil will keep cats off of counters and tables. Since I was having a problem with Nox and Lumos getting up on the dining room table, and they kept doing it when I wasn’t looking, so the squirt bottle wasn’t working, I decided to try the foil. The suggestion cautioned that you would have to leave it up for “a few weeks” until the cat(s) got used to the idea of staying away from the table.
I am happy to report that the foil keeps the kittens off the table. I am sad to report that, after a month, they still jump up there any chance they get, as long as they can avoid the foil. Yesterday, I discovered both on the table. Lumos was on a spot where the foil had been moved away. Nox was on the Christmas tablecloth I had set on top of the foil, getting ready to change out the fall tablecloth. (which hadn’t gotten removed yet because I wasn’t in the mood to deal all the foil.)
If anyone has a better idea as to how to get cats to stay off of tables, let me know. I really don’t want to have foil in the dining room for the next fifteen or so years!
