It was a Fine Christmas
Woman in the Middle | December 29, 2015Christmas already feels like it was a month ago. How can that be? But, before it really is a month behind us, I wanted to remember Christmas 2015 one more time.
On Christmas Eve we had Cousin Michele over. We ate pizza, played games, and went to church. Afterwards, we walked about the giant Christmas light display that takes over the downtown of the big city next door. It was beautiful.
Then it was back home for dessert. I made pecan pies. But there was a little boo boo. I grabbed up the lemon extract instead of vanilla. So, we had lemon pecan pies. It was a happy accident as it tasted quite delicious!
On Christmas morning we had our traditional biscuits and chocolate gravy. It is a southern thing, a delicious southern thing!
The girls think it is magic because I make with without a recipe, just like my mother did. My gravy was more like pudding this year, but it was a particularly good batch, if I do say so myself!
After that it was on to the presents. Nox had a good time with tissue and bows. Lumos preferred to stay on the periphery of all the action.
After unwrapping, but still in our pajamas, we settled in for a little holiday special TV watching. I ended up with both kittens on me. (FYI – A horrible picture of my fat neck. Oh well….)
Then the kittens decided to hang out with the rest of the family. They zonked out, all three of them, and the kittens, too!
We ate dinner out this year. We decided to splurge and have the champagne brunch at a hotel in the big city next door. It was very nice and quite tasty. The champagne was good, too!
Even Santa stopped by to say hello!
Later that night the girls went to a Christmas party and Hubby and I had some friends over, supposedly to eat snacks and play games. But we all agreed that we were too full to eat, so we just played games.
And that was our Southern California Christmas. I hope you had a wonderful holiday and are now all ready for 2016!
Sounds and looks like ya’ll had a great time!
BTW: The photos of the Christmas lights are beautiful!!
