OK Christmas – Bring It On!
Woman in the Middle | December 20, 2015The big holiday event I told you about in my last post is over. About 800 children ate hot dogs, watched a magic show, got a gift, got a stocking filled with goodies, got a blanket, and got a brand new book. It was wonderful!
I roped my family into helping give away the books. This was the first year this event had done that. There was a lot of down time while the kids ate and saw the show. Then - BOOM! - 15 minutes of helping hundreds of kids pick a book. Whew! Then we did it all over again with the second round of kids.
Along with my family, we had about four to five other people helping us. Hubby says he will be dreaming about giving away books for weeks, it was so fast paced and intense. But the kids seems very excited and I was thrilled we could make the book give away part of the whole experience. I love to read and studies show that children that grow up in homes that have books in them will do better in school.
In the midst of all the party madness, I baked three kinds of cookies for a cookie exchange we went to last night. With all that going on little things like present wrapping have gone by the wayside. But, never fear, with those two big events over, I am ready to tackle the final push towards the big day. Today I am dragging all the presents out for an inventory and will begin to do the wrapping.
I am a little afraid that kittens will try to unwrap any presents under the tree, so I might just do a couple of little things and put them out as a test.
Latter toiday, we get to go to the Christmas concert at church. Youngest is in the bell choir so we get to see her do her ring a ding thing as well as enjoy some good music. We might even go look at lights afterwards. It is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!!!
Yeah Christmas Day will be here in a blink, I am ready and rearing to go when the day rolls around.
Your event sounds like a typical day of work for me at my day job, particularly just before a long break. Let me know a bit in advance when the next event comes along so I can help too.
