Lights, Camera, Action!
Woman in the Middle | December 7, 2015Hubby put most of the lights up outside yesterday, so we now look to the outside world like we are in the Christmas spirit. We seem to have more folks in the neighborhood decorating their yards this year. More lights, more yard displays, more elaborate yard displays, than we have seen before in the 5 1/2 years we have lived here. The pressure to live up to our neighbor’s lovely displays sent us to the store Friday night. We bought a new decoration to put up in the front yard. It looks really nice, so I am happy we are adding to the festive spirit in our neighborhood.
With a milestone graduation and new kittens, I decided to put the many photos taken to good use and have ordered personalized Christmas cards this year. That took a little while. I downloaded photos, and then somehow they weren’t there, so I downloaded them again. I somehow created two new “albums” of photos to use on the one card, and so had to go back and forth between them to find the right photos for the card. I also managed to create two new Christmas cards, not one, so I had to remember which was the real card and which was the imposter. But, finally, I got it done yesterday morning and they will be ready for pick up at my local Costco today, if I want to go get them.
I went to my first cookie exchange/Christmas party yesterday. That caused a lot of kitchen action on Friday, getting my four dozen cookies baked. The party had a particularly good group of cookies this year. One I am going to make again for another cookie exchange. It is called “Chocolate Diablo.” It had a bunch of fresh ginger grated up in it and some cayenne pepper! When you take a bite, you really taste the chocolate and ginger. Only after you swallow does the heat of the pepper hit your mouth. Very interesting! It isn’t the kind of cookie I would make just to eat at home, but I think it will be fun to include it in the cookies I make for the next exchange. Our pepper loving friends will really like it, I think.
So, are you all lights, camera, and action yet this holiday season?
Bah humbug! Wanna come and decorate for me?
I don’t think Hubby has time to fly to the east coast right now! Sorry!
