In My Other Life….
Woman in the Middle | November 16, 2015I sometimes feel like I lead a lot of different lives. There is my mom life, my wife life, my household manager life, my pet caretaker life, my park district board member life, my local history writer life… I am sure I have left out some…
Yesterday it was my local history writer life that was at the forefront. Another friend (who is a local history writer as well) and I arranged a local author signing event at one of the museums in the big city next door. We have very low expectations, us local history writers. If we sell a few books we feel it was a successful event.
There were eight of us there. Three represented one book, which they had collaborated on. Two had one book each. One had one local history book as well as a few others she went ahead and put out. My friend and I had about ten books between us, including two we coauthored.
Happily, the store sold 39 books. They were thrilled. They said they usually sell three books on a normal day. We were happy, because 39 is a pretty good number for a local history signing event.
Even better, some friends stopped by, including a sorority sister of mine who I hadn’t seen in probably 30 years. I met some new folks, including fellow authors I hadn’t met before. The store sold out of my and my friend’s most recent book, and bought another 18 from us. Altogether, my “local history author” life went very well yesterday!
Congrats! I am happy that I was able to contribute to your number of books sold.
And I thank you for stopping by! That was 39 total, not 39 just from Steve and I, but I was still happy.
Well that is good news, I also feel there are many layers to Jo-Anne
