It’s a Very Small World
Woman in the Middle | November 14, 2015Hubby and I went to get our first load of 20 sand bags today. Take that El Nino! We took them ten at a time so as not to overload the car. When we returned from the second trip we saw our next door neighbor out in his yard. We waved hello and told him about the sand bag give away a the local Lion’s Club. Very classic neighbor to neighbor talk.
Then he told us he and his wife had just gotten back yesterday from a week in Paris. Yes, that Paris. It just so happens their plane left just a few hours before the chaos and killing began. Wow, that hit a little too close to home. Now that is one small world when our very own neighbors were almost caught up in a significant terrorist event that happened half way around the world.
We just heard today that two of our friends are in Paris about 10 miles from the bombings. They are hoping to fly out this week. Very small world.
Amazing, isn’t it? While I fully admit that most of the people we know aren’t living in poverty, very few travel to foreign countries. So to end up knowing someone who was just in Paris, it blew my mind!
Yes we live in a small world now days, once it wasn’t the case, once things that happened in other countries pretty much stayed in other countries but not any more
