Another Weekend in Paradise
Woman in the Middle | November 8, 2015I am exaggerating about the paradise part, but we are having nice weather around these parts. Next weekend is going to be very busy, in a good way, for me, so this weekend has been devoted to boring stuff.
First, there was the drive through flu shot for Hubby and I. Gosh, nothing feels more middle-aged than actually seeking out a flu shot. Of course, Hubby has had virtually no after effects, while my arm is quite sore.
Then Hubby set to work getting a window repaired. A golf ball came crashing through one of Eldest Daughter’s bedroom windows. Glass was spread all over her bed and room. What a mess! So Hubby had to remove the window and take it to have new glass put in. That became quite the problem as well because many of the glass and screen companies have gone to being open M-F, 8-5 only. I guess no one repairs broken windows on the weekends? I am sure there must be an explanation, but it left Hubby sitting in front of a closed business and me searching the internet for an open glass shop. I finally found one, called Hubby, and sent him on his way to the new place. It was conveniently located across the street from a Sears store, so Hubby had the added bonus of getting to look a the Craftsman tools while the window was taken care of. Much more vacuuming later, and Eldest’s room is reasonably glass free, We have , however, recommended that she wear shoes and not go barefoot in her room.
I, meanwhile, puttered around, in an ongoing effort to make my bedroom reach the level of perfection that is my closet, after applying the principles of the “Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up.” Unfortunately, that effort has stalled a bit and I am trying to jump-start it once again.
The girls went with a friend to a day of the dead event, face makeup and all, and so Hubby and I went out to dinner and did a little shopping. It is amazing how being on my feet lately for just an hour can really exhaust me and cause quite a bit of pain in my legs and feet. Yes, a doctor’s visit is in order and I will be doing that soon. So, even when offered a chance to go to another store, I refused and instead we came home to a relaxing evening of dessert, books, and TV. Now, that truly is paradise!
What are you doing this weekend?
I wonder if the day of the dead event you’re talking about is the one at the Mission Inn. I hope the girls have fun!
It wasn’t at the Mission Inn, but was near by in White Park. Still in downtown.
I had a pretty good weekend, the weather was for the most part good, dry and not too hot, which is how I prefer it.
So funny to think you are in spring, heading into summer while I am in fall, heading into winter. When we were in Australia several years ago the kids go a kick out of the winter sale signs in the store windows in July.
