But, They Were So Cheap!
Woman in the Middle | October 6, 2015I have a few pairs of shoes I paid really good money for. I have a few pairs of shoes that were cheap to begin with and so were cheap to buy. Then there are my bargains.
We used to have a J.C. Penney’s catalog outlet near by. I still morn its passing. I managed to get a pair of Clark’s sandals for $7.00 there one time. I still wear them and enjoy them every summer. But as much as I enjoy them, I got them so cheaply that I just can’t bring myself to pay the very high price Clark’s normally cost. They usually run in the $70-100 range. I may break down one of these days but until then my one and only pair will have to do.
Same with my new Sketchers. My friend Linda volunteers at a local thrift store. One day I got a call from her. They had just gotten a pair of Sketchers in my size that looked practically new and were marked $6.95. I went in and tried them on. They seemed a little tight but as I have worn them I have come to realize that they are quite comfortable. They are so comfortable that I wore them to Disneyland on Monday. Any pair of shoes that survives the Disneyland test are keepers!
I thought I might by myself another pair in a different color. I looked on Zappos and they were $55 to $75 for similar styles. Sigh. How can I possible pay that much when the pair I have cost a tenth of that? There is a Sketchers outlet two cities over. I might just have to go check them out. Meanwhile, I will enjoy my bargain pair.
I think I know the Sketcher’s outlet you’re talking about; I pass it on the freeway.
I have a couple pairs of bargain shoes that were a fraction of what they really cost. As a matter of fact, I’m wearing a pair right now. They are a pair of Sketcher’s flip flops with great arch support – better than Croc’s, if you can believe that. Anyway, I paid $10 for them, brand new, and they were normally $70. I love bargains like that!
Great deal!
I love bargains too, but in a different way. Much to my husband’s chagrin, if I find a super bargain, I then feel free to buy another at full price. That way, I have two of whatever for half price each! I’m weird, I know….
You are lucky. I have a narrow foot so usually the ones on sale don’t fit. Occasionally I will find something cheap but it’s rare. We have an Easy Spirit outlet about an hour away. They carry more than Easy Spirit and I have found some shoes there but not under $10. They usually have them around $29 with a buy one, get one 50% off. If it’s a good day…..it works.
My grandmother had really narrow feet and I remember how hard it was for her to buy shoes. All her shoes were very expensive.
I know I hate paying a lot of money for shoes, my mum always buys hers Paul’s Warehouse were she can get a second pair for either half price or free I usually just get my shoes for the local Big W and then I often get them off the clearance rake so they are usually pretty cheap
