My Theory
Woman in the Middle | October 2, 2015I have this theory that those of us in So Cal are destined to get a certain amount of heat each summer. There are a certain number of degrees of hotness that we must suffer through before fall will arrive. When we were having the unseasonably cool but glorious weather in July, I hoped that global warming had changed the heat formula of our area, but my heat theory still lurked in the back of my mind. While we enjoyed beach like weather I was thinking “Just wait until September and October!”
Global warming aside, I was right. We have now had umpteen thousand days with the temperature above 90. Who cares what the calendar says, summer is still here. However, rumor and the weather men and women says that tomorrow is the last of our over 90 degree days, at least for these next few days. It is supposed to be under 90 for almost a week.
I am doing a seriously happy dance now. I am going to throw open my windows. I am going to entertain the idea of going to a fair (this is the third one in as many months in our area. But I won’t go to a fair if it is hot. Ask Hubby.) I am going to contemplate wearing pants and closed toed shoes. I am going to look at soup recipes. I am going to consider what it might feel like to have to wear a sweater at night. I am going to even think about turning off the ceiling fan over my bed, which has been going 24/7 for over two solid months, and, gasp!, I might event contemplate putting a blanket on my bed! Just contemplate. I am not going crazy yet.
I know we will get another little burst of heat before fall well and truly arrives around here, but indulge me. I may not be putting my sandals away just yet but let a girl dream.
We did have a nice breeze today.
