Under Seige
Woman in the Middle | September 2, 2015A few years ago we came home from vacation to discover our kitchen was covered in ants. There was a stream of ants more than a foot wide marching across our kitchen floor, like the Union forces heading for Atlanta. The young man who had been watching our house swore up and down that they had not been there earlier in the day. The whole thing happened that quickly.
I don’t like using bug spray in the house, but sometimes it is necessary because of the sheer magnitude of the problem. That was one of those times.
Another one of those times was yesterday morning. I got up, poked at the computer for half an hour, and then walked through the den into the kitchen. As I walked by Blackie’s food bowl, I realized that it was seething. I immediately thought “That isn’t right,” because I am quick that way!
Out went the bowls, out came the spray. Instead of cleaning my house for the meeting I was having last night, I was battling ants. Sigh.
With a minimal use of spray inside and a lot more outside, I seem to have the little buggers on the run, so to speak. With an infestation that big, it will take a few more days and a few more sprays before I completely convince them that they need to go somewhere else.
Ants are an issue anywhere, but I have never had infestations like I have have at this house. They leave us alone 99% of the time. But when they decide to come in, oh my! They come with the full force and will of millions of little beings. Excuse me while I go on ant patrol again!
I was having an ant problem last week, and I can’t spray bug spray because of asthma, so I got some ant motels. Let me tell you, they were gone in two days!! YAY!
Good to know. Our ants seems to be gone…for now…
