Weird Weather
Woman in the Middle | July 19, 2015This summer has had weirder weather than any other summer that I can remember in my 53 years of life. While the weather we have had is not outside the norm for weather here in inland So Cal. it is very weird weather for June and July.
In June we normally have a weather pattern that is so common we even have a name for it – June Gloom. When June Gloom occurs, we have overcast mornings with a cloud cover that burns off by lunch time. We had virtually no June Gloom in June, but have had some in July. We had weather so cool in June it felt like early spring. There was even some rain, which, is again, unusual.
July has been equally weird. It has been unseasonably cool for most of the month. I am not complaining. It has been delightful. On July 4th it felt like we were at the beach. July is the heart of summer for us and usually very warm or hot most days.
Then there is this weekend. Yesterday we went to a baby shower in Hesperia, which is about an hour from here, on the 15 freeway on the way to Las Vegas. It was downright cool there, in the 60s, and we had to drive all the way home in a hard steady rain. That is the kind of rain we usually get in January or February.
Right now, as I type this, it is POURING down rain here. A regular monsoon type of rain with hard wind, like they usually get in Arizona. There is even thunder and lightening. Again, I am not complaining. I have tuned off my sprinklers and will enjoy the happy plants when this is all over. But, I am telling you, this is very weird!
It IS crazy! I got a severe weather warning on my cell phone that said it was supposed to last until 5:45, but it stopped already. Now I don’t know if I should continue with today’s plans or not!
We had a downpour here. Now it has just settled into a heavy rain.
I think many parts of the world are having weird weather this year, I can’t remember the last time I heard of it snowing in parts of Queensland you don’t think of snow when you think of Queensland it is the sunshine state
I went to Pasadena yesterday & got wet when I left a play to go back to my car. I had an umbrella – in the car. Same thing happened today. I went to the show under a clear blue sky & when I came out it was pouring!
Who would think we would need an umbrella in JULY!
Weather’s weird in the east too. Tornadoes (which we do not normally get), extremes, way more rain than normal. It’s all wonky.
Tornados?!? At least we didn’t get those! Hope none come near your place!
Weird is the right word for all the strange changes in the weather you are experiencing. Here it i a stormy summer. Almost every day there are storms. Today was one day without but oh, so hot and muggy. Yep, “weird” is the right word,
