All Sprung Out in Green!
Woman in the Middle | March 17, 2015Well, today is St. Patrick’s Day and my area is decked out all in green. With the late rain we got and then the hot weather, the very hot weather, spring has definitely sprung around here. Unlike poor Boston, which can’t seem to shake the snow, here in So Cal the bees are buzzing, the flowers are blooming, and the allergies are going, or maybe “running” would be the better word. The sidewalks and the driveways are wearing their green as weeds pop up in every crack.
My delicious smelling orange tree is sadly just about done with blooming. The two or three weeks of heavenly smells, especially in the evening, is just about over for another year. Instead we have lots of tiny little oranges bursting out all over the tree. In the next few weeks many of these will dry up and fall off. But we will still be left with a bumper crop getting ready for their debut next January.
Meanwhile, I have been out with the hose, already trying to protect various plants from the sun with a healthy dose of water. The pool looks inviting, but it will still be quite chilly this time of year. Rumor and the weather man says it will be ten degrees cooler today. Here is hoping! I am ready for spring, but 90+ degree weather seems more like summer. It is beautiful, but I need a little more cool air before I can wrap my head around warm weather.
Don’t forget to wear your green today!
Your tree sounds heavenly, with all of the sweet smells, flowers, and fruit. Speaking of hot weather, my normally-solid coconut oil that I use to cook with was liquid yesterday. Not that’s hot!
I would love an orange tree as I love oranges my favourite fruit follower closely by the mandarin just saying
Do you have the kind of weather for an orange tree? They are easy to grow if you do.
