Do You Remember … Beaded Curtains?
Woman in the Middle | March 4, 2015We all could have a bit of that hippie style in our homes back in the 1960s and 70s with beaded curtains! They were perfect in a window that didn’t need a full covering to keep out light and prying eyes, like the frosted windows in a bathroom in Mom in Law’s house. I always liked her bead curtains.
Plastic beads such as these catch the light and made a sparkly and colorful addition to any room. Sometimes they were used on windows, even sliding glass doors. Other times they were used in doorways. They were so popular that they are still available today, if a beaded doorway is what you really want!
Did you have any bead curtains back in the day?
I love them and still want some, only I have no where to put them. I guess aa a child I never got them so the dream is still there.
Isn’t it funny how we see something as a kid and think it is just the most neato thing in the world, and spend the rest of our lives wanting it? My terribly boring thing I wanted was Dixie cups in the bathroom, and I have them. I guess my life is complete!
My girlfriend had them in her apartment doorway. I got to hate them because they always seemed to get caught in stuff.
Yes, doorway beads can get in the way. I think having them in a window you rarely open is the way to go.
My parents had them in their bedroom and bathroom and my mom’s friend had them in front of her sliding-glass door.
