Punny Crackers
Woman in the Middle | January 8, 2015More and more, British crackers are showing up in stores all around me. That most British of traditions is a fun thing to do at holiday parties. We were introduced to them many years ago by a friend who loves all things British. She always picked them up at a British store near her. But now I can get them at Cost Plus World Market, TJ Maxx, Costco, etc….
The crackers always come with a paper crown, a little prize, and a joke. I think our favorite part of the whole cracker is the joke. Since crackers are made in the UK, the jokes are very British – usually based a pun, and very dry. They are the kind of jokes that make you groan after you read them. Here is a selection of jokes we got in our most recent set of holiday crackers. May the groans begin!!!
In what country will you ot find a vegetarian? Turkey!
What did one eye say to the other? Between you and me, something smells!
What happened to the bugler who stole an advent calendar? He got 25 days.
Who invented fireworks? Some bright spark!
What do you call just married spiders? Newly Webs!
What do you call an Eskimo cow? An Eskimoo!

Great fun! I must remember to get some crackers for next Xmas!
I have never heard of those! You’re right, the jokes are pretty dry.
My family’s favorite part about the crackers is when we all wear the silly crowns!
