But, we had such a good thing going….
Woman in the Middle | November 3, 2014I have been following other people’s blogs for about four years now. I enjoy reading them very much. But there is this one problem with following blogs and it causes me pain and heartache.
I find a new blog, discover that I like the way the person writes, and I decide to follow it. They post on a regular basis and I get to know them and their families. I look forward to the photos of trips or kids or pets. I realize, except for my occasional comment on a post of theirs, that they don’t know me from Adam. But it still feels like I know them and I like them and I enjoy hearing about their life. And then, seemingly out of nowhere, they stop blogging. Just stop. I realize after a few weeks that I haven’t gotten my regular up date on their lives. I check to make sure something isn’t broken and kept me from getting the updates. But, no, they haven’t posted in weeks.
I start to wonder…has someone taken gravely ill? Was someone in a car accident? Did someone die? I am sure it is none of these things. Their life probably just got too busy….and since I am a total stranger they didn’t think to let me know about that. Sigh…. Have any of you experienced this issue, or is it just sad and silly me?
It’s one of the hardest things about blogging. You feel intense connections to people who drift in and out of your life (don’t want this to sound stalkerish!) Most of my original followers either don’t post at all or rarely. Some are still around. Occasionally a blogger will announce a break or that they are closing down and it’s always appreciated.
I know what you mean I often feel the same way myself and I have a habit of talking about my blog friends like they are people I know which is one of the reasons I think my family do not get blogging
Since this is the only blog I follow and you are still around, the answer is no. (LOL).
