Losing My Mind in All Kinds of Ways
Woman in the Middle | October 6, 2014I was so sure I was going to Las Vegas this past weekend. I had purchased food for eldest to eat while we were gone. I had my bathing suit in the suitcase and was figuring out what else to take. I made sure we had enough medicine in the house for the dog and cat. I turned down various invitations because “we are going to be out-of-town.”
Then I was talking to the friends we are going with to Vegas and mentioned that I was not thrilled that it was going to be hot, since our Saturday was going to be spent out-of-doors. They said something about not knowing what the weather is going to be like 2 weeks out, which led to some other things, and before you know it I was realizing that we are going to Vegas NEXT weekend, not this weekend.
I love being a distracted middle-aged woman who can’t keep her vacation weekends straight!!! Poor Hubby let out just one exasperated sigh when he heard, just 24 hours in advance, that he wasn’t going to Vegas. (It probably helped that there was a crisis at work he now had more time to deal with.) However, he did ask several times over the weekend, “We are going to Las Vegas NEXT weekend, right?”
Opps! It happens!
Oh how I hate it when that happens
That’s funny, because our assistant principal did that today. She thought we were supposed to have our earthquake/fire drill today when the calendar said next Monday! She went on the intercom and apologized. Oh well, stuff happens!
That’s as bad as coming to a friend’s house for dinner on the wrong night.
Thank goodness we didn’t drive to Las Vegas and wonder why are friends weren’t showing up!
My aunt did that once, and then she couldn’t make it on the right day!
Assuming the wrong date for a trip to Vegas is surely understandable, no doubt due to over-excitement about going in the first place. I hope your actual real trip to Vegas is as much fun as you can imagine!
