Never Normal
Woman in the Middle | September 12, 2014For those of you who don’t live in So Cal, you might be under the impression that we have amazing and wonderful weather. Well, we do have lovely weather, especially when you define “lovely weather” as “no snow” and “less than 80% humidity 90% of the time.” But you wouldn’t know it if you follow our local news. We are expecting triple digit heat this weekend. It was a front page story this morning in our local paper. Because, you know, Southern California never ever gets heat over 100 degrees in the summer!!!! (That last was sarcasm, FYI.)
Just for your information, it is pretty darn normal for us here in inland So Cal to get a heat wave or two every single summer with high heat. Heck, we usually get at least a couple of days that are above 110 F. So why does the news media act like Armageddon is coming this weekend just because it will be hot?
The same thing happens when it rains. I realize we are having a drought, but I can assure you that every 12 month period does see some rain around here. But every time water falls from the sky, especially the first rain of the winter season, the local TV news is on “STORM WATCH.”, Note, it isn’t Storm Watch” it is “STORM WATCH.”
Sheesh, it is just weather. Get a grip, people! Based on the news, you would think we never had a normal day of weather, ever!
We are still in the 90′s here in Georgia. Fall doesn’t come here till sometime late October/early November. I see pins on Pinterest for fall decorating and I’m thinking it’s too hot for fall. Today we are in the 80′s with like 90% humidity, so it feels like 110!
I am leaving a country with temps in the low to mid 20′s to got to Hawaii where I think it is warmer at the moment
Oh, fun for you!! Where are you going in Hawaii? It will definitely be warmer in Hawaii!!
Well, I get to move our things to yet another classroom this Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and it is going to be hot and humid!
