Skipping those Chips
Woman in the Middle | August 4, 2014I was in the store last night with Youngest Daughter. We were on a vanilla ice cream and root beer run because root beer floats were on the menu for last night’s snack. While we were there I had a few more things on our list to get as well. So zip, zip, zip we went, hoping to get home before the threatening down pour occurred. Our store, like all other grocery stores, has room to put up displays of seasonal and/or special items. We were going past one of those displays when I say a new flavor of potato chips – cappuccino! Yep, cappuccino flavored potato chips.
What were the flavor gods of Lays thinking? Time, a decade or so later, to get on the coffee bandwagon? I admit I was tempted to buy a bag, just to see how they tasted. But, I decided not to. Such crazy behavior should not be rewarded!
I looked it up on line (because isn’t that what we all do now a days?) and found out Lays is having a contest to pick new flavors. The photo above, courtesy of Parade magazine, has the four final flavors. If you want to know what people thought of these flavors, including cappuccino, go here: http://www.eonline.com/news/563734/we-taste-tested-lay-s-4-new-chip-flavors-here-are-our-brutally-honest-reviews-of-each-one. I will give you a hint, cappuccino came in fourth out of four. I have to say, I am not surprised!
Awwww! I was excited for a while but 4 out of 4? I guess it’s hard to compete with bacon mac and cheese!
The comments from the tasters made it seem not so yummy….
How weird, I don’t get why they keep coming out with weird flavoured chips, I don’t buy them although like you I have been tempted but will not waste my money
If I was going to try one, I’d try the Bacon Mac and Cheese.
We have the Bacon Mac and Cheese here and it’s pretty good, though we agree that there should be more bacon flavor. I’d go back to the Cheesy Garlic Bread first, though. None of the other flavors appeals to either my husband or myself.
