Kohl’s Doesn’t Like Me
Woman in the Middle | July 30, 2014I have mentioned before that Target just doesn’t do it for me any more as a store, something that became particularly obvious when they stopped carrying Suave deodorant. Now Kohl’s and I are having a falling out. I shopped there recently and ended up with $10 in Kohl’s cash to spend on anything I would like. Then, for reasons that are always baffling to me, Kohl’s sent me a coupon for $10 off anything in the store, as long as it cost at least $10. So with my two coupons in hand off I went.
The Kohl’s I shop at most frequently has a huge section that is devoted to just woman’s exercise clothes. I have actually been exercising lately. In a good week I go to two exercise classes and one Zumba class. I only have two tops and two bottoms in my exercise wardrobe so I thought I would spend my $20 on a new top or two. But the clothes in the huge exercise section only go up to extra-large. Sigh. I am larger than that so I headed back to the Women’s section. But there wasn’t a stitch of exercise clothing there. I finally asked someone who worked there and she said they carry exercise clothes in women’s sizes online but not in the store. What????
I left in a huff and went over to the shoe section. I happened to pass by the men’s exercise clothes. I think you know where this is going…there, on the racks, were exercise shirts in XXL. Oh I get it. Large men exercise but large women don’t? Kohl’s, you fail all the women out there like me who just want to move and sweat. I didn’t expect anything more than one rack of the stuff, but no, only women of a certain size get to buy exercise clothes at Kohl’s. The rest of use need to heft our large bodies back into our cars and order exercise clothing in the privacy of our own home, where we can pay shipping, too.
Gee, thanks, Kohl’s.
Well, that just stinks to high heaven! Living about 40 minutes from the nearest Kohl’s or Target for that matter keeps me from shopping there too often. It seems like stores never have what I like in my size. sigh.
I am so with you on this! How dare they relegate me to the desk chair to buy exercise clothes? Good for you speaking out about this serious error in retail judgement.
I live even further from a Kohl’s in fact we don’t have Kohl’s here because well I am in Australia and well we don’t
I don’t think Kohl’s gets it; big people need to exercise more than thin people, so Kohl’s should have more, not less, exercise clothing for big people.
I think you can ask an associate at Kohl’s to order online the clothing you want and have it shipped to the store so you won’t need to pay for shipping and handling. I also think Kohl’s has a kiosk in the store where you can order online what you want and have it shipped to the store.
I agree that I have more of a need to exercise!!! But I also like to try things on so I won’t be ordering online. I will go buy somewhere else!
Well, whatever you do, don’t go to Forever 21!! I went there and asked an associate to show me where a certain dress was located that a mannequin was wearing, and he told me that it didn’t come in plus sizes!!! For sure, I won’t be buying ANYTHING there anymore!
Wow! All I can say is Wow!
