It is Just a Worm on the Carpet
Woman in the Middle | July 9, 2014Some blog posts take on a life of their own, and not in a good way. Way back in the winter of 2012 I did a post on an earth worm who had made its way inside my house on a very rainy day. You know, sometimes it is hard to come up with something to write about in this here blog, and a worm that was crawling across my carpet, nowhere near a window or door, was the most interesting thing that was happening that day, sad as I am to say that. Had I known the life my worm on the carpet post would take on I would have just not written anything that day.
Do you know if you google “carpet worm” you will get dozens of photos of worms somehow related to carpet. And right there, near the top of the heap, is my photo of the earthworm on my carpet. How is this even possible? Even worse, rarely does a day go by, let alone a week, without me seeing the following yucky search terms coming up on this blog:
carpet worm
brown worm on carpet
cat worm carpet
small brown skinny worm
Well, you get the drift. So just for future reference, I do not have worms in my carpet. My cat does not have worms that end up on my carpet. People who have worms in their carpet need to rip that stuff out, and they need to stay away from my blog. Sadly, none of the hundreds of people who have made their way to my blog searching for some combination of “carpet” and “worm” have ever followed my blog.
Excuse me while I go delete that post. I have had enough carpet worm enquiries for a lifetime.
So funny. A long time ago I did a post on airline travel with a clipart of an airplane. That get the most hits. Every day someone googles plane clipart and gets my blog and no they don’t follow either. Boogers!
I’m so sorry this has come to haunt you! It is a funny story though. We all have days that not much is going on and nothing to write about. I get a lot of hits on my tissue paper sunflowers. Don’t think anyone is following me from that either. Blogging takes a lot of work. One day we will hit it big. haha Here’s to hoping!
LOL! That is truly hilarious! I suppose Google, in its infinite crawling wisdom as it searches for unusual key words, stumbled upon your two magnificent examples – “carpet” and “worm.” Some people would be ecstatic over being found by Google though. So Kudos! You have achieved what they call SEO (Search Engine Optimization)!
Yes, I certainly have achieved SEO. I just so wish it wasn’t for carpet worms….
