Summer is here
Woman in the Middle | July 7, 2014Summer has arrived. Actually, it first arrived back in May but it has now come to settle permanently. Here are my scattered thoughts as I sit under a fan with a cool drink.
Is it possible to create your own humidity zone? If so, I have, and my hair shows it. My hair gets a little wild in the humidity, but it isn’t that humid around here. So I think it is just due to me sweating all the time.
The pool is good, the sun not so much. I get tired of slathering my self with 150+ sunscreen just so I can go take a little cooling dip.
On that same note, I was working on my family tree yesterday. The reason all that sunscreen is necessary is all of those ancestors from England. So far the most exotic location I have been able to find an ancestor coming from is Wales. This of course explains why, from a skin color standpoint, I am almost clear. Maybe I should just start buying sunscreen in gallon tubs. It would be more practical.
Much to Blackie’s distress, it isn’t cooling off enough at night to open the windows at 7 pm or so. He does love to sit and look out an open window. Just to be nice, I open his favorite window right before i go to bed. At least then he can spend the night with the breeze in his face.

According to the weather man, it will be down to the low 90s by the middle of the week. You know it is summer when the low 90s sound really really good.
The low 90s is considered hot here but of course we also have high humidity which makes my hair wild! My cats especially tubby Hazel love to lay on the air conditioning vents. Sometimes I want to join them.
When I saw the 5-day weather forecast for my city and it said low 90′s all week, I was happy it wasn’t going to be in the 100′s – yet.
Summer is a lot like that here. Off and on too hot to truly enjoy and my hair goes limp except where it decides to frizz from the humidity. The good days are superb however and this summer we have had a few of those. They say, “If you don’t like the weather here, wait a minute.” Seems to be true. You are so good to Blackie…. lucky cat.
I am cold as we are in winter here and I don’t have a heater so I am really feeling the cold the last few days, have to wear two pairs of socks and a singlet and long sleeve tops
Oh, I hope you get a heater soon!
