Dyeing (not) – An Update
Woman in the Middle | May 16, 2014It has been four months or so since I told my wonderful hair dresser to put the dye away, I was going au natural. Recently, when I visited her for my every six weeks cut, we decided to take my hair a bit shorter and to layer it to try to get some more of the previously dyed part off. Unfortunately it will take another cut or two before all of that is gone and I have a complete picture of what I look like in my natural state.
However, that being said, I am starting to be able to see what has been happening on my head during the last decade while I have been hiding behind the dye. It is now very obvious I can blame what has been happening on dear old Dad!
My dad had a head of very beautiful silver hair. We didn’t know that until the 1970s when men began to grow their hair out a bit, even men in their 40s. His hair was gorgeous and men with silver hair look so distinguished and handsome. It really isn’t fair, is it? I don’t think there is a female equivalent of “distinguished and handsome.” But it is very silver up there on my head. The top of my noggin is beginning to shine very brightly in strong light. Get out your sunglasses!
My daughter tells me I should go grey naturally but at 51 I am not ready to do so, that said I will have to dye my hair this weekend again
