Not Blown Away
Woman in the Middle | May 2, 2014Happily, the wind has stopped, for real this time, and the firefighters are getting the fire in the nearby foothills under control. On the home front it was a shockingly warm day for May 2nd, in the high 90s. The pool that has been nothing but an algae growing hole in the ground all winter is suddenly looking really good due to the weather and Hubby’s work at bringing it back to crystal clarity again.
Surprisingly, in spite of the hard, dry winds all my plants seemed to have survived. I guess all that water they got from the rain right before the wind began as well as my frantic watering, seems to have helped everything survive.
This weekend is supposed to be a little cooler. Here is hoping!!! I belong to an organization that is having a Goodwill fundraiser in another week. We fill up big bins with discards and get $50 a bin. It has given me a good excuse to go through everything. I have gone through most of the kitchen and all of my drawers in the bedroom. I am also going through some of Brother Dear’s clothing as well as some stuff at Mom-in-law’s house. Having the fundraiser coming is helping light a fire under me to do some things that I otherwise would like to avoid as long as possible. Going through a loved ones things after their passing is not a favorite thing to do. I have another post coming up soon about that whole issue, so I will save any more about that for another day.
Another big car show is roaring into town this weekend, so hubby is excited about that. I get to help pick a scholarship winner tomorrow afternoon, which is hard but fun and wonderful at the same time. So, a busy weekend ahead but getting some good and necessary stuff done. (Getting Hubby to a car show is necessary stuff – got to keep the hubby happy!) Hope you have a wonderful weekend and may you enjoy beautiful weather wherever you are!
Been very windy here today as well, and it is also bloody cold outside
My compliments to you for getting so organized – with the planting and watering and discarding things for the big sale! A happy weekend to you and may the air get cooler too.
Oh, I don’t think “organized” is whatyou would call it! Dejunking, I think is more like it, with frantic watering throwing in for good measure!
Whenever I have to give away items, I go to one of the big, blue containers in my town that take clothes and shoes. They look like large mail boxes where you pull down on the lever, put your clothing bag in, and then let go. I have to say, they are quite convenient!
