Now I really need to lose weight!
Woman in the Middle | April 4, 2014Eldest Daughter and I were watching a wedding show yesterday when the bride was given one of those ridiculously huge diamond encrusted wedding rings that seem so popular now. That got us to talking about wedding and engagement rings and I held out my hand and took a close look at my ring, something I just don’t do very often anymore since I have had this ring on my hand 28 years now. Something didn’t look right and I took a closer look. I realized that one of the baguette diamonds that sits on either side of the center stone was missing. Oh no! On closer inspection it appears that one of the prongs broke off. Sigh. I am a little bummed since that little baguette has been with me a very long time and I am sad that it has disappeared. I am also bummed because now I have yet another thing on my to do list. Finally, I am bummed because it is going to cost money to replace.
But, working on the “glass half full” principal, maybe this will motivate me to lose a little weight. Right at the moment, that ring will not be coming off my finger for any repair work, thank you very much. I could get it cut off, of course. Or I could lose some weight. I have been exercising more these last few weeks and have lost a few pounds. I guess I will just keep exercising and when that ring finally comes off I will get it fixed and the diamond replaced.
Oh well, join the club. I have to lose weight too and have lost 3 lbs so far. Just consider it a milestone when your ring comes off your finger; your reward will be a shiny new diamond!
I don’t wear my wedding or engagement rings my fingers are too fat now days and I can get them on but when I walk my hands swell and they cut the circulation off which is not good
That’s great incentive to lose weight. I need something like that just to get started but my ring still comes off with soap and water if I work at it.
My mother had lost a little diamond on her engagement ring. I have lost one on my wedding band. I don’t want to replace it in memory of my mom. My ring is getting a little tight too. I need to use soap and water to get it off.
