They’re Coming!!!!!
Woman in the Middle | October 1, 2013Back in the spring my Navel orange tree bloomed and spread its wonderful scent across my yard. Then I really didn’t notice anything else until I saw, about a month ago, some small green oranges, about the size of ping pong balls or a little larger. But a week ago when I walked out to my car, there they were, taunting me, a whole bunch of big green globes.
Navel Orange trees ripen towards the end of December. These big green balls are reminding me that Christmas is just around the corner and after that it will be orange picking time again. That time of the year when I try to give oranges to everyone I know, and some people I don’t know. Sigh. Time goes by so quickly!
Be sure to check one before you pick a lot. My backyard Navel isn’t really sweet until February.
Mine usually ripen in January. They aren’t ready in December, at least not in the last three years or so.
Well, let me know when you plan to pick and I’ll help you do it.
Oh how I love oranges I wish we had an orange tree
Do they grow well in your area of Australia?
