Bye Bye Oscar!
Woman in the Middle | February 27, 2013Once again, the Academy Awards has come and gone and I didn’t see even one move that was up for a major award. Hubby and I try to see at least one movie that will be featured that year at the Oscars, and yet year after year we fail miserably. We set such a low bar that it would seem impossible to miss, and yet we do. Sigh.
I do like movies, I really do. We just went to see “Identity Thief” and enjoyed it. It was just up my ally – light comedic fluff. But those movies seem few and far between anymore.
Many years ago I went to see a movie that ended up being just a little too much like my real life right then. That was when I made a Scarlett O’Hara vow to make my movie watching fun and light-hearted and not serious and scary. I have managed to keep that vow for the most part, with a few exceptions, mainly to please my family.
I thought the Oscars show itself was amusing. Seth MacFarlane was certainly an interesting choice for host!
What did you think of the Oscars? What kind of movies do you like to see?
I know what you mean I am so out of touch with movies and even many telly shows
I agree with you. I don’t go to see movies that make me really sad or remind me of the bad side of life. I get enough of that through living without having to pay for it!
Amen, Sister!
Movies should be fun and escapist: not dreary and depressing.
I am glad to see that I am not the only one who feels this way!!!
I fell asleep on the couch, while my husband watched the Oscars. The Les Miserables number jarred me awake around 10 PM EST. Like you, I haven’t seen any of the Oscar contenders this week – light comedic fluff is my speed.
I’m not into the Oscars . . . I watch Netflix because it is cheaper than cable or going to the movies, and I can pick what I want to watch and when I want to watch it.
The price of movies keeps us from going. I’m more of an action movie, kick-butt kind of girl. As far as watching the awards, I don’t. They get way too much attention if you ask me.
