Best to look FORWARD when driving!
Woman in the Middle | January 8, 2013I am feeling like my karma is a little off recently. Yesterday was a fine example. I was rear ended by a driver who apparently spends quite a bit of time going forward while looking a different direction.
I was trying to turn right on a red light (legal here) at a busy intersection. I started to go forward then had to stop as a car appeared from behind another car. The man behind me saw me start to go forward and NEVER LOOKED FORWARD AGAIN before flooring it several seconds later. Let me make this clear. Once I started to go forward, he looked left, waited until there was a small break in the traffic, hit the gas, and never during that time looked straight ahead again. What if there had been a pedestrian crossing the street instead of just me, hanging out in my big old car?
In an effort to bring my karma into alignment I was very pleasant to the man who hit me. We exchanged information at my insistence and off we went again. I am happy to report that the Toyota Camry I was driving came through with just a couple of scratches on the bumper. I don’t seem to have whiplash. Sigh….
So, my lesson for the day: Look FORWARD when you are driving forward!
That happened to me in college. In my case it was a long line of cars waiting to turn right, & I moved forward, stopped when the line stopped, but the motorcycle behind me kept coming. No one was hurt, but the guy flew off his bike. Later he tried to get me to pay for his damages. He dropped that when I said call insurance company. He had high risk insurance & didn’t want to report it.
Guy didn’t even want to exchange insurance info because “there’s no damage.” Yeah, no, give over the info, bud!
This sounds like no fun at all! Hopefully you don’t have a stiff neck or anything!
Happily, this morning all aches and pains appear to be the normal ones! Nothing new as a result of my little accident.
I’ve been in an accident like that, not fun at all. Good for you for being nice to him.
Unless you are reversing then looking forward would be a bad thing………….wouldn’t it…………
Seriously I am glad you are ok and your car is ok how was his car hope it coped more damage just because he was a douch………………
Couldn’t see event he slightest scratch on his car. I tried not tp be bummed by that, since my bumper now has sctarches…
People need to pay more attention when driving or take public transportation!
When I taught school and the kids were walking in line I would always tell them, “Watch where you are going, not where you have been.” That saying applies to many areas of life!
