Zumba!
Woman in the Middle | December 3, 2012I just got done with my first ever Zumba Class and I have to say it was fun!!! My fifty-one year and eight-day old self has these observations:
I was neither the oldest, the youngest, the largest, the smallest, the best or the worst dancer, putting me right were I want to be in these situations: smack dab in the middle and as anonymous as possible! However my bright orange work out “wicks the sweat away” top kind of ruined the anonymous thing. There may be a reason I was able to pick the top up on the clearance rack….
I dance like the white woman that I am but I saw a few that danced worse than I did. Actually, I saw women of all persuasions dancing badly, so it made me feel better! Of course, there were those few women that looked like they began practising their salsa dancing in the womb. Sigh…..I am sure there is something I do really well too, but I still wouldn’t mind a bit more salsa in my blood!
This particular class was held in our local community center and was free! There were over 50 women there. So, I guess it is true: as least when it come to Zumba, plan it and they will come! (For those that live in my area it is 9-10a.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, for the first three weeks of December at the community center at Pedley and Jurupa Roads).
I have seen Zumba on telly, but have never tried it…………that said I do love to dance and often think I should get back into dancing around the house……………..lol
Good to know that your dancing wasn’t any worse then others, but ok sucks you stood out with the shirt.
What fun; dancing to lively music is a painless way to exercise. It’s good for the mind and disposition as well as the body. Pretend you’re a jazzed up Rockette and go with the beat!
I used to do aerobics a couple of decades ago. LOVE IT!!! You should have seen some of the crazy outfits I wore back then. Then I got married, moved to the country and had 3 kids. No aerobics out here! I tried walking our neighborhood a few times. That is until a huge snake crossed the road in front of me and scared me half to death. My daughter’s wedding this past summer and all the dancing we did at the reception, has made me rethink exercising again. I’ve heard Zumba is a lot of fun. think I’ll give it a try.
Hey, read your post & decided to give it a try Wednesday. It was fun, but not much (read none) instruction. Where were you?
I had a doctor’s appointment. I will be there next Monday, barring unforeseen circumstances! It was free and fun like you said, so I enjoyed it! I need to talk to you about Eastvale history. Someone with your last name worked at a ranch over there and I want to know if it was your grandfather!
My grandfather was a milker at the ranch where Ralphs shopping center is. 3 of his children including my Dad were born on the ranch. A doctor from Corona made house calls. See you on Monday.
