Passwords
Woman in the Middle | November 3, 2012A list has just come out of the 25 most common passwords. Some were obvious. Some were not. I just couldn’t resist going though the list and making a few comments.
Come on people, don’t you think that “password” and “password 1″ are a bit obvious? Or abc123, or how about “123456″ or, even better, “12345678.”
Too many of us think “I am typing on a qwerty keyboard so I think I will use…qwerty as my password!” FYI, not a good idea! A million of your closest friends had the same thought!
Why do I have a feeling that she is typing in “qwerty” as her password?
Those of you who thought you were being original and cute when you came up with “trustno1″ or “letmein” now must face the fact that you are in imminent danger of being hacked.
I think we still know which is America’s number one sport when we see “baseball” on the list ten spots about “football.” Soccer and basketball didn’t even make it in the top 25.
I am having to assume certain things about the names of people (and their boyfriends/ girlfriends/sons/daughters/husbands/wives) because “ashley” and “michael” are on the list!
Apparently the favorite car, or maybe horse, is the Mustang because that is a popular password.
Many people seem to be calling on divine help to protect their devices by using “Jesus” as a password.
Others prefer the mythological and use “dragon.”
There are three that have me totally baffled. In the number 6, number 18, and number 23 spots respectively are “monkey,” “shadow,” and “ninja.” Huh?
Below is the whole list, in order of preference:
1. password (Unchanged)
2, 123456 (Unchanged)
3. 12345678 (Unchanged)

I don’t care how clever a password is; I wish I could find one that I could remember!
I so feel your pain! But in your quest to find one you can remember, don’t pick 123456! I can’t believe people do that!
I agree with Ronnie. Too many passwords for different things. They say don’t use the same one and some require symbols and some letters and numbers. I have to write them down. I have a 2 page spreadsheet with them all. Don’t worry though, there is some coding so if someone steals the spreadsheet they won’t be able to figure out what goes with what. Heck, sometimes I can’t.
I have a computer book in which I write down email addresses and passwords to different sites not sites like my internet banking but other sites like WordPress and many other sites and yes I do have the same password for many of those sites because it is easier for me
