Our new vacation tradition
Woman in the Middle | August 29, 2012It has become obvious that we have a new vacation tradition in our house. You know, traditions are not necessarily good, and our new tradition certainly is not! It seems my Youngest Daughter and I have started trading turns. She gets an ear infection one trip, I get a bladder infection the next. Sadly for her it was YD’s turn. The plan was to leave Sunday for a two night/three-day get away to the beach. Eldest Daughter had a rehearsal for an upcoming show she is in so we weren’t going to be able to get away until about 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. At 12:30, just as we were finishing lunch, YD mentioned that her ear hurt. A few pointed questions later and I was handing her some cash and telling her how to get to Urgent Care. I figured that was better than trying to find an urgent care at the beach.
She ended up walking back into the house at the exact same moment as her sister. We left soon after, got some gas, zipped by the drug store to get the medicine for her ear, and off we went! As we drove to Huntington Beach we all felt warm and fuzzy inside, knowing we had kept our family tradition alive. Just kidding about that last thing. Actually, we were all wondering why karma doesn’t seem to like us going on vacation. I am feeling a need to take another trip to see if we can break the curse, I mean tradition! Maybe Rome? Paris? London? Heck, if is my turn to feel yucky on vacation, I might as well feel yucky in a beautiful foreign city!
Look on the bright side… at least these traditions don’t stop you all from traveling.
I was also very happy she was able to go to get the ear dealt with while were were still at home. I am tired of using part of our vacation exploring urgent cares in other places. They don’t tend to be very exciting! But, yes, I am also glad we are still able to go places!
At least she was able to go!
Yes, we were happy it was all taken care of and her ear didn’t have to hurt on vacation!
